Hibbert leads team to raise money for Make-A-Wish

Snowmobile snocross champion Tucker Hibbert is leading a team focused on raising money for Make-A-Wish® Minnesota. No stranger to setting and achieving goals, the 14-time X Games medalist is asking fans, friends and family to join his Team 68 Walk for Wishes® team to raise $6,800; the average cost for Make-A-Wish Minnesota to grant the wish of a child.

Saturday, August 6, Hibbert will lead Team 68 in a 5K walk through Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis at the 10th Annual Walk for Wishes event. A donation of $20 or more earns you a spot on the team and a limited edition Team 68 t-shirt. Every dollar raised by the team will go directly to Make-A-Wish Minnesota.

“We’re really excited to get Team 68 fans together to raise money for Make-A-Wish Minnesota,” Hibbert said. “Last year, when we were involved with granting a boy’s wish to get a snowmobile, we experienced firsthand the power of a wish. It’s an honor to be involved with an organization that’s making a difference in people’s lives.”

“A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition. A wish is much more than just a nice thing. The experience can positively impact the lives of everyone involved, forever,” said Mia Broos Hoagberg, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Minnesota. “With the support of friends like Tucker, we are able to grant life-changing wishes for Minnesota kids. Every dollar raised through Walk for Wishes will provide wish kids and families with a healing experience at a time when they are devastated by their diagnosis. We thank Tucker for his continued support.”

To join Hibbert’s Team 68 Walk for Wishes team, go to http://bit.ly/Team68Wish. People who join for $20 but are unable to attend the event will still get a limited edition t-shirt to acknowledge their contribution.

Hibbert records milestone win and 10th National Snocross title

Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck’s Tucker Hibbert recorded a milestone win and claimed his 10th Pro National Championship at the final stop of the ISOC National Snocross tour in Lake Geneva, Wisc. Hibbert faced three days of intense racing on Grand Geneva Resort’s big, technical ski hill track.

Hibbert’s number one goal of the weekend was to wrap up the championship. Taking first in both his qualifying rounds Friday night, he only needed to finish ahead of no. 11 Tim Tremblay in that night’s final to clinch the title. With a third-place finish, he secured enough points to officially be crowned the 2015-2016 Pro Open Champion.

Saturday night, Hibbert had another feat in front of him – take his 200th career start and win his 120th Pro National race. With the early lead in the final, he rode a dominating race to add another milestone achievement to his career.

Sunday’s event started on the right track with Hibbert going 1-1 in qualifying. Odds were against him having to line-up ninth on the start line due to ISOC’s inverted final event start procedure. After a bad start, he collided with another rider mid-air on the first downhill. Uninjured and determined to finish strong, he remounted and put on a charge. With two laps to go in the 12-lap, 15-rider race, he made the pass for fourth place then, suddenly, suffered a mechanical issue that prevented him from finishing the race.

Recapping Hibbert’s 16th professional season, he won 12 of the 17 ISOC Pro Open finals, recorded his 120th Pro National victory and won a record-breaking ninth consecutive X Games gold medal. As the accolades keep piling up, he remains focused on fine-tuning his program.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck

On his Lake Geneva results: “Lake Geneva was an up and down weekend for me. I was super happy to win the championship Friday night but disappointed with my third place finish. I was excited to rebound and win Saturday. I felt really good through practice and qualifying on Sunday and motived to get the win in the final. Getting tangled on the first lap and being so far behind was tough but I put on a really hard charge. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish the race. It’s a bittersweet way to end the season.”

On winning the Championship: “Winning my 10th championship is awesome. Obviously, that’s the main goal for the season. I don’t know if I can say it’s more or less rewarding than the other championships but we (the team) faced a new challenge this year with ISOC’s inverted start rule. I believe it played a big factor in some of the races, which was frustrating. Knowing we put our heads down, not letting it affect our program and to still come out on top is really rewarding. Winning the championship with such a commanding points lead says a lot about our team.”

On what’s next: “My main focus right now is to be as prepared as I can for the next snocross season. We’re going to be working hard at the shop to dig into the areas we know we can improve on. This summer, I’m excited to do some mountain bike and motocross racing. I don’t have a solid plan but hope to get it figured out soon.”

Hibbert takes a win at rough Chicago National

Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck’s Tucker Hibbert recorded a win on Route 66 Raceway’s tight, technical track Saturday night. The drag strip turned snocross course, right outside of Chicago, featured one of the roughest tracks of the ISOC National Snocross season.

With a short starting line leading into a flat first turn, getting a good start was critical. Poor qualifying picks both nights put Hibbert at an instant disadvantage. Making the best of the situation, he went 2-1-7-2 in his four qualifying rounds.

Friday night, Hibbert looked to be on his way to a win as he quickly moved through the field after a mid-pack start in the 15-rider, 20-lap final. Searching for a line around leader no. 837 Ross Martin, he made a mistake and high-sided his sled. He got going again but struggled to find a groove to finish fifth.

In Saturday’s final, Hibbert qualified ninth but had first pick on the start line due to ISOC’s inverted start rule. On the far inside, he launched off the line and by the end of the backstretch rhythm section, he secured the lead. With a clear track in front of him, he pulled a solid gap over second place. He spent the remainder of the race riding smart on the deteriorating track while dodging downed riders and yellow flags.

Hibbert now holds a 97-point lead in the Pro Open points championship. With three days of racing and 147 points on the line at the final event of the season in Lake Geneva, Wisc., he has the opportunity to clinch his 10th national title on day one.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck

“The Chicago track was wild. I was surprised by the amount of snow they had and I’m pumped they were able to make the race happen with such warm weather. The track was really technical and the backstretch was tough all weekend. I was pretty disappointed about my mistake in the final Friday night and really motivated to get the win on Saturday.”

“The track Saturday night was really technical. A lot of riders struggled and ended up crashing. I’m glad I got out front early and was able to ride my own race.”

“I am really proud of how my team has been working and the season we’ve had so far. I can’t wait for the last race in Lake Geneva and finishing the season off strong!”

Hibbert takes double wins at Ram Trucks Snocross National in Michigan

Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck’s Tucker Hibbert took double wins at the Ram Trucks Snocross National in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. to continue his win streak on the ISOC National Snocross tour. Hibbert is now 10-for-12 in the Pro Open class this season and holds a 102-point lead in the 2016 championship chase.

Hibbert was in top form Friday night winning both his qualifying rounds and the final.

After poor starts in both his qualifying rounds Saturday night, Hibbert had a hard time moving through the field to take a pair of fourth place finishes. The defending champion admitted to struggling in the sloppy, slippery snow and not feeling comfortable taking chances while getting blasted by heavy, wet snow roost. He knew getting a solid start could make or break his run for the win in the final.

In the 15-rider, 18-lap final, Hibbert launched off the start line only to miss grabbing the Stud Boy Holeshot by inches. Hanging close behind frontrunner #54 Petter Narsa in the opening laps, he searched for a line to make the pass. On lap five, Hibbert got a fast run on outside of the downhill rhythm section, snuck to the inside of Narsa at the bottom corner of the hill to make the pass. Once out front, Hibbert went unchallenged to complete the weekend sweep.

Next up for Hibbert is the penultimate event of the season. For the second consecutive year, Route 66 Raceway, right outside of Chicago, will transform its famed drag strip into a snocross course. For more information on the event, visit route66raceway.com.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck

“The track and snow was pretty good on Friday but on Saturday with it warming up, the snow got real slippery and unpredictable for racing. It was tough to be consistent and get traction. The roost was really bad.”

“On Saturday, I struggled through qualifying with my starts and dealing with roost from other riders. I was really focused on my start in the final. I picked what I thought would be the best spot to get the holeshot and it worked out pretty well. I was trying to get into the lead as soon as possible. I didn’t want to wait any longer than I had to. I was getting roosted really bad so I knew I had to get out front to get clear vision.”

“I feel really good. With all the wins and big points lead it takes pressure off for the last two races of the season. I’m focused on finishing the series strong, rack up more wins and get the championship.”

Hibbert continues win streak at Eastern Snocross National

Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck’s Tucker Hibbert continued his win streak in New York by sweeping rounds nine and 10 of the ISOC National Snocross tour. Hibbert pulled the holeshot nearly every time he hit the track to win all four of his qualifying rounds and both Pro Open finals.

Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino featured a high speed, technical track and with warm temperatures throughout the weekend, snow conditions constantly changed. Hibbert adapted quickly to each condition and put down blistering fast laps both nights. His most impressive run came in Saturday’s 18-lap Pro Open final where he opened a five-second lead over second place by lap five and went on to lap up to fourth place before taking the win.

Hibbert now holds a 90-point lead in the 2016 championship title chase. The ISOC National Snocross tour will take a two-weekend break before hitting the final three events of the season. For more information on Hibbert’s schedule, visit tucker-hibbert.com.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy / Arctic Cat / Ram Truck

“I really couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. This is the second national in a row we [the team] have been able to sweep qualifying and the finals. These weekends don’t come easy, especially now with the inverted start. Even with bad start line picks in my qualifying rounds and finals, I was able to pull almost every holeshot. That’s a testament to how good the guys have my sled dialed-in right now.”

“The track changed a lot throughout the weekend. The snow went from slippery to mealy to icy. It was tricky and really kept you on your toes. There were a lot of crashes throughout the weekend. It just wasn’t a track you could take chances on. I’m thankful I got good starts so I didn’t have to push past my comfort zone to get to the front.”

“Every year in New York, I’m blown away by how passionate the fans are. You don’t see that at any other event of the year. It’s fun to race in that kind of environment.”

“We’re deep into the season and I feel like before we know it, we’ll be at Lake Geneva. It feels good to have a good points lead I but try not to focus on points too much. With so many points on the line each weekend, you have to stay focused and not get ahead of yourself.”
