Steve and Paul’s Scandinavian Adventure

3.20.10

Unfortunately, two of Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s crewmembers will not be able to join us at the World Championship in Sweden. For undisclosed circumstances, both Steve Houle and Paul Engelstad were denied travel approval by Department of State. Perhaps it was due to Steve’s passion for firearms* and Paul’s application being stained with blood*. We may never know. The good news is, they will travel with us in the form of Legomen, which is almost as good as them being with us in person. So starts the beginning of an unforgettable journey  – “Steve and Paul’s Scandinavian Adventure.” Everywhere we go, they’ll be there with us…kind of. Stay posted to watch their adventure unfold!

*editor’s note: This is purely a joke. Both Steve and Paul have valid passports but were unable to join us. Steve is an avid hunter and every race weekend, Paul manages to cut his hands in the trailer. Enjoy.

Valentine’s Day Ride

2.18.10

Mandi and I spent our Valentine’s Day snowmobiling with my hero, Roger Skime.  We rode around Skime Ranch and through the Beltrami Island State Forest.  Who knew that Northern Minnesota was so cool?  It was the first time Mandi and I snowmobiled together and we had a great time.  I spent most of the day on a F8 .  Mandi rode a Z1 LXR and Roger rode his SnoPro 500 that he raced in the I-500 last month.  Unfortunately with racing, I don’t get a chance to recreation ride very often.  Last year, I was able to sneak in a week of mountain riding in Colorado after the X Games with a group of guys from FCA.  This winter, Mandi and I joined Minnesota United Snowmobiliers Association and our local snowmobile club – Lake Runners Trail Association.  If you’re not a member of your local club or MnUSA, click HERE to join.  It’s a great way to support the sport we love!

GOLD FOUR-PEAT!

1.31.10

Tucker just won his fourth-consecutive Winter X Games Snocross gold medal.  That brings his total overall medals to nine – making him the winningest snowmobile athlete at Winter X.  In Tucker’s post race interview, he expressed how badly he wished Blair Morgan was still on the track to challenge him.  We all miss you Blair and hope to see you on the race track again someday!

Tucker has a short break before the Knock Out final tonight.  It will be live on ESPN2 8:30-9:30 p.m. EST.

Tucker’s First

1.30.10

Tonight, Tucker hit a ramp on his snowmobile for the first time.  He admitted to being “a little nervous” but quickly got the hang of it.  He practiced for two hours and will get another practice tomorrow after the Snocross final.  Below are a few photos by John Hanson.

WX 14 Saturday Update

1.30.10

Tucker just finished his two Snocross practices for the day.  The Monster Energy/Arctic Cat crew is busy getting everything dialed in.  Tucker has Knock Out practice tonight from 5:30-7:30.

Jeff Tweet had two practices today for the Adaptive Snocross event and he couldn’t get on the track fast enough!  His excitement and drive is refreshing.  Unfortunately in the first practice, he took a hard landing and tweaked his back.  After spending some time with ESPN sports trainer, he is feeling much better and was able to do his second practice.

Make sure to tune in to ESPN and ESPN2 tomorrow for the Adaptive Snocross final, Snocross qualifying and final and the Knock Out final!  Click HERE for the full broadcast schedule.
